Myth II: Soulblighter

Publisher: Bungie Software

In the computer gaming industry, there are revolutions and evolutions. Wolfenstein 3D was a revolution. A first person view in a 3D environment, which has since evolved into more games that can be counted, from Doom to Marathon to Unreal. A similar concept, with evolutionary steps: better graphics, better game engines, better network play, etc.

Bungie Software's Myth was a revolution. It was a battle simulation, done in real time, on real terrain types. No more resource management, no more turn based planning. The fiasco unfolded as you watched, and reactions had to be honed to slay your enemies.

Myth II is, as the name implies, an evolutionary step. If you liked the first one, or if you never played the original but enjoy intense, gripping game play, don't bother downloading the demo. Just go buy the game.

Better graphics, better units, better terrain. New attacks including flaming arrows and fireballs. Interior locations (though sadly, none of the fantastic multiplayer maps have any interiors at all), and an improved multiplayer server (Bungie.Net) are just a few of the reasons this game is a must-have.

Note: A new version of this demo was released on 4/16/99. This incorporates all the bug fixes that have gone into the full version of Myth II: Soulblighter to date.
